First Group of Chinese Nationals Freed from Scam

Today (February 20, 2025), at 8:30 AM, the atmosphere at the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge 2 in Mae Sot, Tak, was charged with anticipation as buses were prepared to transport Chinese nationals who had been rescued from a call center scam in Myawaddy, Myanmar. The first flight, arriving at Mae Sot Airport at 11:40 AM, will mark the beginning of repatriation efforts. A total of 200 people will be flown back to China on four flights today, with 1,041 Chinese nationals scheduled to return. Other nationalities will follow starting on February 23, with a total of over 2,000 foreign nationals being helped to leave the area since February 12.
