Forensic officers inspected the evidence after the incident where 55-year-old Pol. Lt. Col. Banrang Kasaporn, Deputy Inspector of the Sai Mai Police Station, was shot with a 9mm firearm, hitting his head and body with a total of 7 shots. The shooting occurred in front of a barber shop near the Chalerm Phong Bridge on Chalerm Phong Road, Sai Mai District, Bangkok. Rescue workers attempted CPR before taking him to Sai Mai Hospital, where he later died. At the scene, five 9mm shell casings were found and collected as evidence. According to the investigation, the deceased had just finished his shift, was wearing a half-uniform, and was having a meal with friends at a restaurant when he intervened in a dispute involving a foreign national who was arguing loudly with the suspect, later identified as 41-year-old Mr. Aranap Sriseub, also known as "Chang San." The suspect, who was across the street, ran over to ask for help from the deceased before shooting him. After the incident, the Sai Mai Police Station's special operations team arrived quickly and arrested the suspect. He was taken to the station for questioning, but the firearm used in the crime has yet to be found. Photos by Krit Phromsakla Na Sakolnakorn / กฤษณ์ พรหมสาขา ณ สกลนคร / Thai News Pix
